Georgetown Parent, Baby and Toddler group meets on a Monday and Wednesday morning in the church hall. These groups give mum/dads/carers/grandparents the chance to mix with other adults travelling through the same stage of life – there is much laughter during these morning sessions.  We meet from 9.30am - 11.30am.  he benefits for the children include; children socializing and mixing with children from the school catchment area, learning the skills of sharing toys, listening to stories, learning and singing songs, sitting at the table for a healthy snack. There are many social activities for adults and children.

We have art tables, play dough, sticking and cutting and learning through play.

Snack time is at 10.30am and we encourage children to sit at the table for a healthy snack.

We hold an ‘End of Term’ Service, where we say goodbye and present a certificate to each child who is taking the next step of life and leaving our group, either to full time school or pre-school nurseries. A lovely reminder of the time spent with us.

WHY NOT come and join us ?  All WELCOME!!!!

PARENTS & TODDLERS

This group is organised by the Church Community Link Worker:

Bev Waller: tel: 731002

or

 Church office: 730914

E-mail mailing list.  We have a mailing list that will advise all past, present and future members of our activities, to which everyone is always welcome.  If you wish to be added to this list please advise Bev 731002 or e-mail ‘hughandbevwaller@jerseymail.co.uk’  .  This is a great way to keep in touch with people who only come occasionally and is much cheaper than having a postage mail shot.

Stairgates by main front door.  These must be kept securely fastened at all times.  Please do not allow any other children to pass through the gates with you and your children.  If another child squeezes through, please turn them around and direct them back into the hall.  It is everybody’s responsibility to ensure that children and other adults are safe.

Other dangers – In every building, even our homes there are thousands of dangers.  We need to minimize the risk to ourselves and the children in our group.  If you see a cupboard open, please close it. If you see the stairs without the wood in front, please put it back. We need to ensure that we are careful with hot drinks.

Helpers – this group is a Community project provided by Georgetown Methodist Church, but it is the adults attending who can make this group their own.  You can come and put as little or as much into it – you will get the same back!  Whatever your involvement, please can everyone help in some way – take cups back to kitchen, help putting toys away, etc.    We are all travelling through the same stage of life, with some precious little people, at the same time.  We hope you enjoy your time with us.  Caring for little people is a most amazing experience and the salary is pure love!

Setting a good example

Story time - This toddler group wants to set a good example to children and help them in their transition to nursery school / pre-school or school.  Sitting on their bottoms and listening to a story comes with practise but the more they do it, the more natural it will become.  Singing is a great way for children to learn rhymes, numbers and words.  We give everyone the opportunity to return to the hall for play or stay for the story / singing.  If you chose to stay for the story, please can you keep adult conversations to a minimum – we really want to set a good example!

Snack time – Please ensure that you do not take more cheese and grapes than you and your child will eat. It is heartbreaking to have to throw a plate of food away when some people in the world are starving.  Please can everyone put their child’s drink cup and plate back on the trays or in the kitchen.  This will make a lot of people very happy.

Tidy up time – It is great to encourage the children to help tidy up and put the toys in the cupboard.

Parking – the general rule is that we will not be moving cars; otherwise we could spend all morning calling for car drivers. At 11.30am all car drivers must check that their cars are not blocking other cars before staying for coffee. Please find alternative parking if you need to leave before the end.

Buggies / prams – With the cold winter weather, please bring the buggies/prams into the church area by Jo in the office, where it is warm and dry.  This will leave the hall entrance free so that we could get out of the hall quickly in an emergency.

‘Making connections’ We encourage everyone to meet up and make connections during the week.  Parent and Toddler groups are an excellent way of meeting people in the same situation and experiencing the same stage of life.
